Holiday Book Fair and Getting Sideways Release Date

I’ve finally settled on a release date for Getting Sideways: December 11th. There’s a significance to that date, but I doubt any of you will recognize it, except Alice. 🙂  Here’s a hint: It’s a significant event in one of my characters’ lives. The first person who can guess gets a free autographed copy of the book when it comes out in print, which will be later in December. No date for sure on that because it’s dependent on Lightning Source, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble. (Alice, you’re not eligible, though I am impressed that you knew.)

For those of you who have read Getting Sideways and think you know the story, get ready for a surprise. I added 21,000 words in the revisions that I spent the last five months agonizing over. And several of those words are guaranteed to make Beth cry. (I don’t know why I bother linking to Beth since she NEVER POSTS. :P)

I’ve been madly scrambling to finish the final edits, set up some promotions, and rake half the leaves in Clackamas county. Let me tell you, I am totally beat. The only things keeping me afloat are snuggles from my kitties and the fact that the Ducks are so freakin’ awesome. In your face, Stanford!

In other news, I’ve been invited to participate in a Holiday Book Fair December 10th at Cover to Cover Books, which was the first stop in the Rainboots Required Author Tour back in October. I’ll post the press release below so you can get all the particulars. Even if you don’t want to see me, or the other nine authors, it’d be worth the trip to Vancouver just to snuggle the awesome shop cat, Smedley.

Surround yourself with fascinating fictional characters, local writers, and readers of all ages at the first annual holiday book fair at Cover to Cover Books on Saturday, December 10, 11 AM to 3 PM. Ten area writers and poets, including bestselling young adult and urban fantasy author Lili Saintcrow, will be on hand to autograph books and discuss their genres, plots, characters, inspirations, upcoming projects, and aspects of the writing life.

Cover to Cover Books, formerly in downtown Vancouver, was damaged by smoke and fire a year ago. While many bookstores, victims of the economy, closed their doors this year, Cover to Cover reopened in the spring at 6300 St. James Road, Suite 104B. The December book fair will celebrate a commitment to serving Vancouver readers and providing a venue for poets and writers to gather and exchange ideas. Cover to Cover is home to two monthly events, Ghost Town Poetry, an open-mic poetry night, and the Vancouver Writers’ Mixer featuring presentations on writing craft.
