Running Wide Open Now Available at Smashwords

I really should be out mowing lawns right now, but I got my final cover tweaks done yesterday (I changed the title color to yellow to make it more visible) and this morning I decided to try uploading to Smashwords while I waited out the rain showers.

I still have to convert my Word document to the mobi (Kindle) version and Epub version before I can upload to Amazon and Barnes and Noble, but I figured Smashwords would be easy, and it was. I didn’t expect them to make it available for sale so soon. You can buy it here.

Things have been super-busy lately, but I’m closing in on the checkered flag in this publishing deal. The print version should be available in late June or early July and the ebook will be available through Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com probably next week. I’ll work on uploading them later today, but it will take awhile for them to become active. In the meantime you can download any ebook version (kindle, epub, etc.) from Smashwords for only $2.99. Feel free to leave me a review!

What’s it about?

Cody Everett has a temper as hot as the flashpoint of racing fuel, and it’s landed him at his uncle’s trailer, a last-chance home before military school. But how can he take the guy seriously when he calls himself Race, eats Twinkies for breakfast, and pals around with rednecks who drive in circles every Saturday night?

What Cody doesn’t expect is for the arrangement to work. Or for Race to become the friend and mentor he’s been looking for all his life. But just as Cody begins to settle in and get a handle on his supercharged temper, a crisis sends his life spinning out of control. Everything he’s come to care about is threatened, and he has to choose between falling back on his old, familiar anger or stepping up to prove his loyalty to the only person he’s ever dared to trust.

Need a recommendation? Awesome YA author Christine Fletcher wrote this amazing blurb for me. If you haven’t read her books, you should. Here’s what she had to say:

“The roar of engines practically explodes off the page in this compelling, heart-thumping debut. Cody Everett is a straight-shooter with attitude, smarts, and whip-cracking wit; he doesn’t pull any punches, and neither does author Lisa Nowak. The collision of Cody and the world of stock car racing makes for a great story, one of the best I’ve read in a long time. Running Wide Open is a book not to be missed.”

Thanks for the blurb, Chris! And thanks, also, to all my friends, relatives, and fellow authors who have helped me along this journey. You guys rock!

Now I’m off to mow those lawns…

  2. Eee, how great!
Is it coming out on iBooks ever? That’s what I use.
Also, it’s supposed to be sunny this weekend, if that lifts your spirits.

McKenzie, is that the same as the Apple Store? If so, it should be available there through Smashwords sometime this week. It’s now up at Amazon and Barnes and Noble, too. I’ll have to look into uploading directly to the other outlets.

Rose, you’re right, it has been a long climb. And now the work of marketing begins. But I’ve been brainstorming about that and have some really fun ideas.
